Lichfield Cty have registered their third straight victory in all competitions as they beat Stone Old Alleynians 2-1 to pick up the crucial three points.
Goals from Dan 'Wonder' Smith and Cameron Dunn were enough for Ivor Green's men to keep in touch with those crucial play-off places.
The visitors dominated from start to finish with their rather surprising line-up named by Green and assistant manager Wayne Chapman.
Smith struck early on in the game, barely five minutes into the contest. It was brilliant work from Liam Kirton in the build-up, off the left, and his slipped-through ball found Smith and his left-footed finish found the bottom corner.
Smith had a chance to double his luck but another superb left-footed drive, after intricate play in the build-up he struck the inside of the post but the ball bounced to safety, much to Green's frustration.
The second half was much the same as the first for Lichfield but the hosts pumped more and more long balls into the box but the defensive pairing of Matt Hunt and Josh, who came on for Jamie Elkes, dealt with the aerial assault superbly.
The second goal arrived 13 minutes into the second half and it was a brilliant team goal well worth the wait.
Joe Haines, who has been in superb form this season, drove nearly 60 yards with the ball before finding Jack Edwards on the left, the number 10 did well twisting and turning before he cut the ball back to Dunn who finished superbly.
The hosts, who were chasing the game, struggled to create any chances of real quality and seemingly laboured towards the final whistle being blown.
The hosts got themselves back into the game late on through a volleyed finish from Connor Russo that halved the deficit but it wasn't enough.
Lichfield take on bottom-of-the-table Bewdley Town at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium next Saturday hoping to carry on their good form.
