LICHFIELD City’s title charge continued with a 2-0 win over Tividale.
Callum Rudd and Jack Edwards were on target in the second half as Ivor Green’s men continued to set the pace in the Midland Football League Premier Division.
The first real chance of the game fell to Edwards early on as he forced visiting keeper Ethan Hawk into a smart save.
But Tividale were also posing a threat with a header going just wide of Brendon Bunn’s goal and a shot also off target.
Hawk did well at the start of the second half to keep out a low Joe Haines shot.
The breakthrough eventually came ten minutes into the second period when Haines’ free kick was flicked past the Tividale keeper by Rudd.
Edwards made it 2-0 not long after as his corner curled into the net.
The visitors had a perfect opportunity to reduce the deficit when they won a penalty after a handball. But debutant keeper Bunn guessed right to keep out the spot kick.
